Workplace Hazards Include: Gravity, Heights, and a Very Mad Corpse in 'Shady Job'

It turns out the internet is absolutely desperate to engage in some light, digital organized crime. In just three days, an overwhelming 20,000 players signed up to haul a thrashing body bag into the skyline, forcing the developers at Gaze In Games to panic-sweat and consider closing playtest sign-ups early just so their team doesn't implode from trying to manage the chaos. If you managed to sneak your name onto the list, keep your hardhat secured: the first playtest is scheduled to drop as soon as Steam greenlights it, targeting July 24–25.

🎮 For Gamers

OSHA Is Going to Have a Field Day:

Look, we’ve all had bad days at work, but usually, our cargo doesn't actively try to push us into a deadly 50-story freefall. In Shady Job, you and up to three of your most expendable friends play as construction workers who accepted a totally normal, not-at-all illegal request from the local mafia: carry a heavy bag to the top of an unfinished skyscraper and encase it in concrete. No questions asked. The twist? The body bag is absolutely overflowing with life, rage, and a severe dislike of being buried.

This isn't your average "carry the box from point A to point B" simulator. The bag is essentially a chaotic toddler with the strength of a heavyweight champion. Handle it too roughly, and it gets visibly offended and increasingly aggressive—thrashing around, smashing the very floors you're standing on, and actively attempting to shove you off the ledge. To survive this health-and-safety nightmare, you’ll be breaking windows, shattering walls, and wielding a Plunger Gun for dear life to reel in the runaway bag or pull your screaming teammates back from a lethal drop.

🔧 For Developers

Engineering the Perfect structural Collapse:

If you're looking at Shady Job from a design perspective, the true star of the show isn't the mafia or the grumpy corpse—it's the absolute madness of the physics-based object placement system.

The developers didn't give players a nice, predefined linear pathway to walk on. Instead, they handed players raw building blocks and essentially said, "Figure it out." The game leans heavily into real-time physics simulation, forcing players to manually construct makeshift, highly unstable bridges over terrifying drops. Every single block placed requires an amateur degree in engineering, because the balance is unforgiving. One poorly placed beam or a sudden shift in weight distribution, and the entire structure will collapse like a house of cards, sending your hard work (and your teammates) plunging into the abyss.

On top of the manual block-stacking, level progression relies heavily on the tactical manipulation of physics-driven heavy machinery. Players have to actively coordinate crane movements and swinging platforms to haul their materials upward, all while accounting for momentum, gravity, and a highly erratic AI bag that is actively trying to throw the weight distribution out of whack. It’s a brilliant loop of giving players structural creative freedom, and then immediately punishing them if their architecture isn't up to code.
